A short bike ride out of Perth can take you across the River Tay to Scone Palace (historical crowning place for Scottish Monarchs), while a short climb on your e-bike up and beyond Kinnoull Hill or Moncreiffe Hill, and you are riding your bike along cycle friendly roads with very little traffic, in the middle of stunning countryside. When cycling south from the city, once you pass through Fortevoit or Forgandenny, you are at the foot of the Ochil Hills and your e-bike can help take you up through the path of Condie towards Loch Leven, and then on a loop back to Perth through Glenfarg or Balvaird Castle. Other options include a bike ride via Kinnoull Hill out to Rait (popular antique centre), or across to MacDuff’s monument or folly (a viewpoint on top of Murrayshall hill), before cycling back to Perth via Scone.

The half day bike tour options from Perth (3 to 4 hours in total) allow you to experience the stunning Perthshire countryside in a way that is totally different to sitting in a car or bus! – For more detailed info please see our previous blog/news post at:

All of the photos in this article were taken within about an hour of leaving Perth.. You don’t have to cycle that far to be in the middle of nowhere, away from any traffic or petrol fumes. Highland Perthshire is also known as Big Tree Country, with more than 200,000 acres of woodlands. It also has a rich history, with many castles and ancient ruins spread right across this part of Scotland. For more info about Scone Palace, or the Roman Empire having a garrison up here back in the year 82AD;
