E-Bike Tours 2026
2026 Season: Unfortunately, for the time being, HBT are not taking any online bookings on Fareharbor (via ‘the orange book now’ link) for any of our bike tours for the first part of the new season (2026).. Hopefully this will change sooner rather than later.
Therefore the online Fareharbor booking system will only be made available for all online bookings once we know for sure that we can provide a bike tour on chosen date(s). At present it is very unlikely that any dates will now be available during April or May.
Please keep checking the website for any updates as the 2026 season progresses
For info, we have taken some provisional bookings by email for some of our tours in July and August 2026, but the Fareharbor booking system won't be going live until we can guarantee a tour guide being in a position to actually take the tour(s).
CYCLING IN AND AROUND PERTH..
In the meantime, we will try and post some tips over the next few months for all the tourists and visitors wishing to cycle around Highland Perthshire.. Here at HBT we have been providing guided e-bike tours now since 2022, cycled over 20,000 km’s with tours from Perth or Pitlochry, and have since been able to find the best cycle friendly routes (using roads) across the Perthshire countryside.
We say all this because while this region is an amazing cycling experience, the local council (PKC) have not delivered on any of their promises or proposals to improve the actual cycling infrastructure in this region since… at least 2009!! - In fact, Perth is sadly the only city in the UK now that as per the summer of 2025 still had 0 (zero) kilometres of segregated cycle lanes – the surrounding countryside is amazing, but when out cycling do try and avoid those urban areas that have had no cycling infrastructure upgrades for at least 15 years now! They (PKC) will of course claim that they have made progress with sustainable transport by installing some ‘bike stands’, but in reality this is their cheapest option just to tick a few boxes, and in our opinion doesn’t count when no new dedicated cycling routes have been created in Perth since 2009, while at the same time millions of pounds have been spent/wasted over the years by the very same council on ‘consultancy fees’, by outsourcing on so called ‘feasibility studies’, so as just to be able to publish a ‘Perth could build..’ or ‘Perth may build..’ (followed by some ‘Pie in the Sky’ project or proposal) every couple of years in the local press.
Here some recent examples; The joint Rail/Bus Station proposals for Perth actually go all the way back to 2004, and where in 2017 the local press even reported; 'There have been repeated calls for a replacement to the Leonard Street bus station, which was last year likened to a 1950s eastern European housing estate'.
Then from the £33 million Sustrans Scotland received from Transport Scotland for the financial year 2024/25: nothing was actually spent on Perth or the PKC region! Cyclists should be asking; Why?
And then while on the subject of the cycling charity Sustrans Scotland (not to be confused with Sustrans UK) one can see that over a six year period between 2016 and 2021, Sustrans Scotland actually received a total of £234 million from the Scottish Government, of which only a very minute amount (less than 500k over a 6 year period) went to the PKC region… it is almost like those at PKC didn't really wish to invest in any real cycling infrastructure!?
At the end of the day, as per 2026; Perth still has 0 (zero) kilometres of segregated cycle lanes!
More to follow..

Just one example of the roads in Perth centre.. each year the council just add another layer of paint.. before long the bicycle logo will be higher than the curb!
Back in Feb 2023, our initial observations on cycling infrastructure in and around Perth.. nothing has really changed in the past 3 years: Perthshire is a fantastic location for cycling… shame about the infrastructure!
