Based in Perthshire, with wide open spaces amongst amazing scenery and wildlife, this part of the Highlands has unrivalled landscapes and an intriguing royal history.

Our Tours

Together with a local tour guide you will experience all the beauty that the Scottish Highlands has to offer in a unique way. Thanks to our E-Bikes, long distances or hills are no longer a problem, and you can comfortably enjoy all the stunning scenery here in Perthshire. The tour guide will take you along beautiful routes full of nature and wildlife; from historical and cultural hotspots to hidden gems!

From 2023, we can also offer tours that start and finish from Pitlochry; The Highland Perthshire Tour.

Highland Bike Tour

When opting for this tour you will be using one of our Dutch style electric hybrid bikes to go cycling around Perthshire with an experienced guide, taking in the beautiful scenery along the way. You will experience this region of the Highlands in a unique way by E-Bike. This Tour departs from Perth. Half Day Tour options also available.

A day tour from Perth is usually 6 to 7 hours, while a half day tour will take between 3 to 4 hours.

We have selected the best routes on roads that have very little traffic. In fact, on some parts of your tour you will hardly see other road users.

The Highland Bike Tour from Perth departs at 10am, is a day tour, and we are usually back at our hub in Perth by around 5pm.

Half Day Tour options are also available, with several departure times (am or pm during the summer months), and it is recommended that you contact us in advance, as there are only 4 slots per tour!

The Highland Perthshire Tour from Pitlochry departs at 11am and takes around 5 hours. This tour needs to be booked in advance by email confirmation so that we can arrange for the correct bike sizes to be at the starting point in Pitlochry.

Historical & Cultural Bike Tour

On this tour the focus will be the rich history, along with the many castles that are spread right across this region. This also includes plenty of locations with legendary tales (from Mary Queen of Scots to Macbeth), along with filming locations for popular TV series Outlander, or Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps - So not only will you be cycling comfortably on an E-Bike through the most beautiful scenery, but you also get to visit iconic locations within this part of the Highlands.

This tour only departs from Perth.

Due to its central location, 'The Historical & Cultural Bike Tour' departs from Perth only.

It is recommended that for this tour you contact us in advance, so that we can provide you with all the different options available on any given day (the focus/topic on certain dates)

The half day option for this Historical & Cultural E-Bike Tour is possible, but needs to be booked in advance by email so that we can arrange for the correct bike sizes to be at the starting point in Perth.

From 2024 onwards there will also be a new bike tour that starts in Perth; The Macbeth Tour. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth Act IV, this will include a bike ride in Perthshire from Birnam Wood to Dunsinane Hill. No half day possible here as the cycle loop is approx. 75km's. Please contact/email us for more details about this day tour.

Whisky Infused Bike Tour

If you opt for this tour, not only will you be cycling comfortably through the most beautiful scenery, but you will also visit one or more of the world famous malt whisky distilleries located in this region; Edradour, Blair Athol, Glenturret, and Aberfeldy are all within cycling distance when making use of one of our E-Bikes. There are also tours where you can visit the Morrison distillery who are responsible for the award winning Old Perth blended Malt whisky, or the Lindores Abbey distillery in nearby Fife.

In Pitlochry, our hub is located in the town centre on Atholl Road, while the railway station on the London/Edinburgh to Inverness intercity mainline is within 3 minutes walking distance.

In Perth, we are positioned in the city centre, very close to the River Tay. The railway station is about 15 minutes walking distance.

We recommend you do have experience with riding a bike. If you are confident riding a traditional bike then you will be fine riding one of our E-Bikes. In fact, we will go as far as saying that you will thoroughly enjoy the ultimate experience!

How to book your Tour

There are no cash payments at the premises, so all tours must be booked in advance, or paid by debit or credit card (at the shop/hub) prior to the tour.

Please note that there are only a maximum of 4 places on any given tour.

To reserve your place on one of our tours you can either use the Fareharbor Booking system (via orange BOOK NOW link), send us an email to [email protected], or simply complete the Contact Us section. As there are only 4 slots on any of our tours we operate on a first-come first-served basis with all our bookings. Please also include the height of each person - We will then supply you with the correct frame size.

It is also worth mentioning that if the ‘private tour’ option has been booked in advance then there are no other places or bikes available on that day. Highland Bike Tours (HBT) make use of Hybrid road E-Bikes with a classic Dutch design, so suitable to use while wearing casual clothing. You can view images of these e-bikes on the FAQs page (see above), or on our Instagram link (see below).

Solo travellers wishing to take part in a Bike Tour: Although there is the 'private tour' option (for 1 to 3 people), all of our shared tours require a minimum of two people, so if you would like to take part in one of our tours and are travelling alone, then feel free to contact us with your preferred travel date, and we will do our best to match you up with others in a similar position.
